Western Cake Ideas

Free Cake Decorating Ideas:

A sheriff badge cake will be an eye catching western birthday cake.

Bake 2 sheet cakes and let them cool completely
Cut one of the sheet cakes in to 5 triangles
Cut the other sheet cake into a pentagram
Line the triangles up with the 5 sides of the pentagram
Frost the cake yellow
With dark frosting detail, sheriff and the name of the honored guest

Here is an easier way to make a smaller cake:

Bake a round cake
Frost the whole cake in darker color like blue or green
Use tubing to frost the sheriff’s badge
The star’s tips should extend to the end of the cake
Detail the Sheriff’s name onto the badge and you’re done

Add a fence railing to the sides of a round cake with tip #48. This is the same tip that does basketweave so you can have a rigged look or use the opposite side for a smooth line.

Decorate a horse cake.

Cut out a shape of a cowboy boot from a 13x9 pan.

Print off a cowboy hat cake decorating pattern and create a cake image.

Add a western theme cake image.

Decorate western cupcakes with western boot candles or toy cowboys.

Party Invitations

Wanted posters are a fun invitation to a western themed party. Use western language on the invite, “Mosey on over partner for a wild west birthday hoe down in honor of outlaw/sheriff ____”

The Party Starts

As guests arrive, give them cowboy hats, sheriff badges, and squirt guns. For an adult party set up a wild western casino for poker and other games.

Kids Games

With kids you can still use the wild west poker feel, just play games like go fish and old maid. Here are some more ideas:

Draw

Guests line up in 2 lines with their water guns
The lines face away from each other back to back
Tell the guests to take five paces away
When you say draw, the kids all turn
They point their gun at anyone in the line opposite
If two children are pointing guns at each other, they are out

Shooting Practice

Set up some light weight objects, such as empty water bottles for the guests to shoot down with their water guns.

Hog tied

Divide guests into teams of four or more players
The teams line up and face each other.
The first player on each team is given a ball of string.
At the starting signal, the first player passes the string to the next
He still holds on to the string
The players pass to the end of the line unwinding the string
At the end of the line, the string is passed behind the players backs
This continues until the ball is used up
The first team to get to the end is the winner
