It took me a week to work on making the "ships" out of fondant. The hardest was the wing fighter which was too heavy to be "glued" by the frosting, especially since it was so hot out that day. I got through it.
You will see Luke and Darth fighting it out, half a Deathstar, rock candy used as stars, the Millennium Falcon (a small version) the Wing Fighter, the tie fighters suspended in mid air ready for battle. It was a chocolate cake with Strawberry filling and regular buttercream.

This is a full sheet cut in half and sculpted. All parts of the cake were used including the dome that was leveled. Covered in Buttercream, tip # 47 used for broad lines, tip #12 for raised circles, tip # 3 & 5 for outlines and boarders.

I baked two rectangular cakes. I frosted all but the middle of one cake and then chopped up the middle with a fork. I cut a number 7 from the other cake and placed it in the middle of the chopped up part, attempting to make it look like the 7 had broken through the middle of the cake. I melted orange frosting in the microwave and poured it over the middle to make it look like lava. Then I decorated it with some star wars toys.
