St. Patrick's Day Cakes

St. Patrick's Day cakes. Ideas to help celebrate this time of year. You can create a lot of different themes for St. Patrick's Day like a shamrock, leprechaun, rainbow, pot of gold or just a green cake. Here are some of our favorite ideas. Submit your photos for the  gallery too.

Free Cake Decorating Ideas:

• You can create a shamrock shaped cake by using 3 or 4 heart pans and one rectangle piece of cake. Place cake pieces together to form a shamrock.
  
  



• Find a basic picture of a leprechaun and trace it onto a large cake. Fill it in with stars or paint the cake.



• For a minty frosting use the mint frosting recipe for a filling or frosting. Tint it green and add accents with a buttercream frosting.
  


• Try a leprechaun hat cake. It is fairly easy to decorate a hat. You just need to make a 3-4 layer cake. The video above will help you.


• Print off our leprechaun decorating pattern and paint a cake or make a buttercream transfer.
  


• Color your batter for a surprise inside the cake. Color it green for St. Patrick's Day or swirling different colors together like a marble rainbow effect. Or create a layer creation with each layer the color of the rainbow.

• Create a rainbow sheet cake easily by baking a 13x9 cake. Outline your rainbow with a toothpick and fill in the lines with the appropriate colors either by painting the rainbow or piping stars.
