Secure the Cake
Before you begin to fill or frost your cake, you want to make sure
and secure the cake to a cake board so that it does not slide.
Especially if you plan on moving your cake after it has been frosted.
You don't want all of your hard work sliding to the floor and these are
very easy decorating instructions.
Secure your Cake - Placing Cakes On Cake Boards
Be sure you are using a wax
coated cardboard
or have your board covered with something such as cake foil.
These are easy to obtain or make yourself.
Using a metal spatula, place a couple of tablespoons of icing on
the middle of your cake board. Use your spatula to spread the icing a
little, but not too much. You want the icing to be a little thick so it
can properly hold the cake in place.

Center your cake layer with the
bottom side of the cake down if you are filling the cake. If you are
not filling the cake place the bottom side, which is the smoothest
side, up as above . Press the
cake into place on your cake board.
You are now ready to fill
the cake
or
frost
the cake.
