Rope Border


A rope border can be a great look for a western cake or to finish off a basket. I've even seen a rope design on the top of a graduation hat cake. It is a simple technique that just takes a little practice.

  • Tip 21 or 17
  • Frosting
  • Pastry bags
  • Coupler













  Icing Rope Cake Decorating Instructions
  1. Start with your tip at 45 degree angle of your cake.
  2. Make a S on its side.
  3. Tuck tip in the first curve of the S.
  4. Squeeze frosting while moving tip up and over S.
  5. Tuck the tip in the next S and continue up and over.
  6. Continue until you reach the end.
