Rolled fondant supplies are a little different than cake decorating
supplies. For classic decorating you need pastry tips and pastry bags but
when working with fondant you will need some different tools for
rolling out your fondant and cutting shapes.
There are the basic supplies you'll need when working with fondant and
the extra supplies that are fun and you can do more with. We'll start
with the basics.
Fondant whether ready made or homemade
Rolling pin
Sewing pins-to prick air bubbles in your fondant
Knife or pizza cutter-cutting fondant around the bottom edge
Cookie cutters-use any sizes or shapes to make decorations
Fondant Tools
Throughout the fondant section on our site you
will find more fondant tools that would be useful for different
techniques such as painting on fondant or making flowers with fondant.
These are just some of the tools that will make working with fondant
easier.
Fondant ribbon cutter-
Cuts perfectly straight ribbon strips. Can emboss also. Fondant decorative punches-
This tool cuts out several different designs that you can add to your
cake Ready made fondant-
These are the brands I recommend for ready made fondant. Whether you
want to buy a 2 lb. or 5 lb rolled fondant depends on how much you will
use it. It lasts up to 1 year wrapped up and stored in a tight
container.
Fondant rolling pin- A
normal rolling pin will work fine also. The
fondant rolling pin helps you measure the exact thickness according to
the rings on the ends.
Fondant mat- Great for
rolling out your fondant and measuring it to the correct size.
Fondant smoother-
Helps shape and smoothes out the fondant once you lay it on the cake. Fondant cutter set leaf-Shape
and cut leaves out of fondant
Fondant flower set-
Shape and cut flowers with your fondant
Flower Former Set- Lay
your fondant flowers on the former set and allow to dry. Flowers will
hold their cupped shape. Fondant cake decorating can be a lot of fun. Working with fondant is as easy as playing with play dough.
It is satisfying to see your creations come together and having these
rolled fondant supplies makes creating decorations easier as
well as helps you make a successful fondant cake.
