Monkey Birthday Cake

You can made a monkey birthday cake, the perfect for a jungle-themed party or for the child who loves chimpanzees, by using a monkey-shaped cake pan or creating one out of a 13 x 9 pan or a ball pan.

Monkey Cake Decorating Ideas

Use a monkey shaped pan and follow Wilton's cake decorating instructions.

Shape your own monkey head using a ball pan and circle pan. Use the circle pan to cut out ears and attach to the head with icing. Decorate anyway you like.

Baking or cutting a cake in the shape of the child's age and place monkey figurines around the number. If you are creative, you can make original monkeys from fondant.

Monkey cupcakes do well with younger children. Just decorate each cupcake to resemble a monkey's face using brown icing, white icing for eyes and a tiny piece of black licorice for the middle of the eyes. Use red frosting for the mouth and shape monkey ears from brown fondant

Make a jungle scene cake from a rectangular cake using light blue icing for the sky and green for the grass. Create a playful monkey troop scene using special cake decorations such as monkeys, trees and vines. Make a pile of bananas out of yellow icing.

Monkey-Themed Party Ideas

If you plan on having a jungle-themed monkey party, use party streamers and balloons that are match the colors on the Monkey Birthday Cake to enhance the ambience of the party. You can also play music from "The Jungle Book" or "Tarzan" during the party. Little children love to dance and they probably won't need any encouragement once they hear the music and see all of the decorations.

Whether you are hosting the party in your house or in your backyard, you can decorate the area with jungle cutouts, hanging stuffed monkeys (the kind that have Velcro attached to their hands) coconuts, bunches of bananas and hanging "vines" (ropes) from a tree for some swinging fun. Green streamers hanging from your ceiling inside your house will give it a real jungle affect, while placing a couple fake palm trees around will add to the overall jungle scene.

When guests arrive, direct them to the "monkey house" where someone can be waiting to paint their faces like monkeys. Kids also love removable tattoos as well.

What Animal am I?--just like charades only each child has to pretend to be a jungle animal. The one who guesses the most wins a door prize

Balloon Stomp is fun and is a good energy release for the younger crowd. Tie balloons around the ankles of the guests, leaving a foot of string between the balloon and the ankle. At the sound of "go", guests have to run around and try to stomp on each other's balloons. The player to keeps his or her balloon the longest wins.
