Happy Mario
I first found a picture of Mario's face and enlarged it until I was happy with the stencil to be used over the face are of Wilton's Bob the builder Pan.
I used the color flow method to do the facial features, allowing time to completely dry before starting on the cake.
I used the paper pattern of the face to place over the baked Bob the Builder cake to mark off where I needed to stop, decorated his work outfit in Mario colors and then frosted the remaining area before placing the face color flow pattern.
After completing Mario cake, I shrunk the pattern to smaller size and made similar color flow decorations to place on cupcakes.

I needed a simple idea for a Mario cake and my son wanted little figurines to keep after the party. I made a two layer cake frosted blue like the sky. Then added fondant pieces to resemble the game such as coins, pipes, clouds, bricks, etc.
Then added the figurines to finish the cake.
