Making my cake "taller"

I'm making a cake tomorrow, using a cake mix... What do you suggest I add to make the cake "taller" for decorating? I've heard so many different ideas that I really don't know which I should use! Thank you...

Here's what I do for a taller, yummier cake

I always use Betty Crocker mixes (Fr. vanilla or chocolate fudge are my faves)

Use buttermilk instead of water
Add an extra egg
Add one small instant pudding mix

Be careful. It does rise higher and can overflow if you put too much batter in your pan.
