Icing Recipes

Have you ever wondered what the difference between icing recipes and frosting recipes is?

The two are used interchangeably. However although these two words are used interchangeably there is a debate on whether they are the same word or two entirely different things. What do you think? Here is my view.

When I think of icing I think of a glaze or something that is thinner such as what you would find on a cake doughnut. Icing is usually drizzled or poured on a cake or sweet bread.

Frosting I envision to be thicker and creamy made with butter and sugar and used to decorate.

Icing can also be a term used mostly by cake decorator's.
