Holiday Cake Ideas
Once you sort out your holiday cake ideas, you then need to move on to
thinking about the rest of the party. While food is an important part
of any holiday celebration, you also need to plan the decorations. Here
are a few examples to get you thinking:
Halloween
Your color scheme should feature lots of black and orange, but you may
also include some of the autumn colors such as red or brown.
Decorations should be spooky but also age appropriate, as it is
possible to buy some terrifying statues that give small children
nightmares.
The cake or cupcakes can feature orange fondant or frosting with black
spider webs, cats, brown autumn leaves, or white skeletons made out of
food gel. If you don’t have a steady hand, use candy or other
food items to make designs or add sprinkles for a little sparkle.
To complete your Halloween party décor, place a carved pumpkin
at the door to welcome guests or use it as the centerpiece on the
table.
Christmas
Christmas decorations are easy to put up around the house as the season
has traditional colors of green, white, red, silver, and gold. The key
to good decorating for the festive season is to make it look classic
and effortless, as you can aim for a winter wonderland and end up with
a gaudy mess. Christmas is also one of the few holidays where people
prefer homemade decorations to those in a store, so don’t be
afraid to make your own paper chains or snowflakes.
This holiday is one that warms the heart and the belly, despite the
cold time of year. Christmas is a time to share family recipes and
enjoy traditional dishes that you would not eat on a regular basis.
Among these recipes are holiday cake ideas, some of which family
members pass on to younger generations while others are new and
exciting, like a towering Christmas tree cake.
This cake is actually quite easy to make since all you have to do is
bake squares of different sizes, and stack them up from largest to
smallest. Add some green icing, colored gel around the edges for lights
or tinsel, and Runts, M-n-M’s, or other round candies for
Christmas balls. Place a star on top, some petite fours on the bottom,
and serve.
Try a
snowman cake for a winter holiday theme cake.
Valentine’s Day
February 14th is a day of love that you can celebrate with your
significant other or those that you hold near and dear to your heart.
You might also have an anti-Valentine’s Day party in which the
décor consists of every color but red. For a traditional party,
you should create separate spaces for each couple, with candles and
soft furnishings to enhance the romantic mood. If you are throwing the
anti-party, you might have no tables, loud music, and bright flashing
lights.
As for holiday cake ideas, a simple red heart with the word
“love” or some long-stemmed roses is nice but you need
something opposite for an anti-Valentine’s party. For this party,
a lemon cake in the shape of a heart with a black licorice
“x” on top is an idea or you can opt for a broken heart.
Independence Day
The 4th of July is a fun holiday to celebrate and does not exclude
anyone based on religion or romantic status. The color scheme is red,
white, and blue and an American flag should be part of your
décor. A 1774 party theme that requires guests to wear
traditional dress or come as a politician of the time is a possible
idea. If you prefer bright, then fireworks is the theme for you as
splashes of color can cover the wall while at each seat, you can place
a small, safe sparkler for your guests.
As for holiday cake ideas, you have many options; from sandcastles to
flags to hamburgers. You can make anything fun, American, or summery
into a cake or cupcake.
Having good holiday cake ideas is only the start of a successful
holiday celebration. The more thought and planning you put into your
party, the more your guests will enjoy themselves and the food.
