For the football fans in your life, coming up with creative football
cake ideas can turn their birthday parties into truly memorable
occasions. However, for a truly unique cake, you'll need to give
yourself plenty of time for the design, testing and decoration. You
should also do your research, especially if you don't know much about
the sport, so you know that you're using the right logos. Please

Creative Football Cake Ideas
The hard part of coming up with football cake ideas is working out what
part of the game to use as the theme. Watching a game with the birthday
boy or girl might give you some inspiration, so you might want to try
making:
A jersey – making a full
color jersey shaped cake will make them
smile, but you'll need to do your research first. From a distance,
football jerseys look like they have one central color with a bit of
trim, but up close they have quite complex designs. The main thing will
be to get the main color right, and you may need to invest some time
getting the mix of food colorings right.
To make the cake, you'll need to bake a rectangular cake, and
then chop the bottom third off. Split this bottom third in half and use
these blocks as the arms. Attach them with icing or just by pushing
them together when they're still warm. You can then cover the whole
thing in white icing and paint it with food colorings, or make blocks
of colored icing. For an added touch, put their name and favorite
number on the back as well
A helmet – a helmet is a bit easier to make than the jersey as
they tend to be of just one color, but they do have the difficulty of
the mouth guard and logo of the team. For the mouth guard, you could
make thin bars out of cake and overlap them, or just paint them on with
food coloring. The team logo may be harder as they can be complex, so
it may be worth printing one off and sticking it down to be removed
once the cake has been admired.
Using a football shaped pan decorate with chocolate stars and
white
writing for lines.
Bake a 13x9 cake and allow to cool. (no need to level the cake as
you'd like a dome look to it) With a sheet of paper cut out the shape
of a football for a pattern. Lay pattern on top of your cake and cut
out a football shaped cake.
Decorate with chocolate frosting and pipe
white lines to finish.
