Fondant Bows

Fondant bows look great as a finishing touch to your cake. Whether it is in the center of your cake or tying up your tiered cake, a beautiful bow looks great.  Here are directions on making two different bows out of fondant.

Bows

There are several different bows you can create to finish your cake. One is a bow with two loops on the sides and a tail. We've included a video tutorial below for help.

Making a Loop Bow

This type of fondant bow has several different loops placed together to form one large bow. Start by cutting out 10-15 small rectangles or strips out of your fondant. Form into a loop and press the ends together.

Set lops aside and allow to dry making sure they hold their shape. Hang on a wooden spoon handle if needed to hold their loop shape. Cut the tips of your loops off to help your bow stack easier. See picture.

When ready to put your bow together, stack loops on your cake starting with the bottom layer and then attaching loops as you see in the picture. You can put a dot of buttercream frosting in the middle of the loops and press the loops into the frosting to hold them. See the video tutorial below for help.
