flying high
by Joanne Clifton
(Fredericksburg, Texas)
The cake was made for the grandson of a friend of my sister. He is into flying with his grandpa. The cake was made with the new airplane pan from Wilton, iced with buttercream icing with tip 21 in various colors.
The pilot's body was a small rectangle of fondant with two other rectangular logs rolled for arms and a small amount for gloved hand. The heads were Wilton's cupcake heads and the scarf was another piece of fondant.
When I was finished, I made some color flow decorations of cute planes, attached them to a cookie on a stick that was outlined in the cookie dough with a second picture of the same drawing, and attached them with some additional color flow that was left over, after tinting it blue for the sky.
Put the cookies in a bouquet for the birthday boy.
