Farm Cakes
Farm cakes make a theme birthday party a lot of fun. Whether you
decorate a red barn cake or make farm animals, try some of these cake
ideas for your farm party.
Red Barn Cake
One of the easiest farm themed cakes is making a red barn cake. You can
use
the house cake pan like we did in this tutorial or cut a 13x9 cake into
a barn shape. Trace an outline on a piece of paper before cutting your
cake out if you prefer.
Bake your barn cake and crumb coat.

A star tip is used to make hay bales. It is
easiest to decorate the
front of the barn and then move it to the serving platter. Make sure
you secure the cake before putting
it down. Then decorate the sides and back.
Now decorate with farm animals or whatever accents you'd like.
You don't have to have a stand up barn cake you can cut a cake
out of a 13x9 pan and lay on top of a cookie sheet.

Farm Cakes Ideas
In addition to barn-shaped farm cakes, you can create entire farms
complete with tootsie roll candy fences with cows, horses or goats.
We have many
farm
animal cake decorating patterns you can print off and use to
decorate your cake.
Farm Cupcakes
Cupcakes iced in green with licorice fence borders may keep a plastic
horse, cow, chicken or duck from getting loose. Placing cupcakes
together and icing them as you would a sheet cake, creating a
cupcake cake, lets each guest pick
their own but be sure to use enough plastic animals so that each
cupcake has one. Use yellow or green icing for the base with candy
stone paths, licorice fences and stack cupcakes for use as silos.

4-H Cakes
Farm cakes with a 4-H theme can depict the traditional four-leaf
clover, as well as the project. A sheet cake may have the four leaf
insignia in each corner with an image of the project, like a calf or
pig, displayed in the center. Celebrating a successful 4-H project with
a home-decorated cake can include the project’s winning ribbon color,
while decorating for a 4-H group might include the insignia stenciled
on each cupcake or the various projects in which the group
participated.
Farm Tractors
Create farm tractors by using cupcakes and sheet cakes cut into pieces
to form the tractor. Some folks are very particular when it comes to
their choice of tractors, so be sure to use the right color. Create
wagons in the same way by cutting cupcakes in half for the wheels and
using whip licorice pieces for the spokes. Use strands of licorice in
pastel colors to depict hay, straw or wood rails on the tractor wagon.

Produce Farm Cakes
Using candy, you can create rows of corn, sunflowers and other crops
top of a green iced sheet cake, with brown icing serving as the ground
between the rows. Flat designs including fruit trees with jellybean
fruits, edible pearls and non-pareils provide a wide variety. Orange
groves, apple orchards and grape arbors using non-pareils as the frame
and fondant leaves allow you to customize your creation.
Singular farm-related objects including fruits, vegetables or animals
can be created using cake that is cut to shape. Decorate an apple
shaped cake in bright red frosting and include a gummy worm for fun. A
cake shaped like an ear of corn may include licorice whips as silk and
a tomato-shaped cake with fondant leaves.
Winter Farm
Edible glitter can transform a farm scene into a winter wonderland.
Create red barns with a glittery snow-capped roof, snow drifts
sparkling with silver glitter dust and bare trees created from licorice
lightly dusted with white icing snow. Blue hued glitter enhances frozen
ponds, and holiday themes may be incorporated as the farm rests in the
winter.
There are as many creative farm cakes as there are animals down on the
farm and with all the edible decorations available, you can create a
farm cake for every season.
