Easy Frosting Recipes

These are the easy frosting recipes that I use as well as other cake decorators.

All of the icing recipes, with the exception of the diabetic, make about two cups of icing.  This is enough to ice a 9x13, two 10" rounds, or one character cake. If you are doing the 3D speciality cake like the train cake,  I would suggest making 3 batches of icing.  I think two would be a little close, and this way you would definitely have enough.

Delicious Easy Frosting Recipes To Ice & Decorate A Cake

When making your frosting, remember that humidity can effect the consistency. If you are making icing on a particularly humid day, you may want to start with less liquid and add it as you need it.

Any time your frosting is too thin, add some extra powdered sugar. If your frosting is too thick, simply add some more liquid such as milk or water.

By the way we use the terms frosting and icing interchangeably.

Basic Decorator Icing
This is a great basic white decorator icing or homemade icing recipe. It is pure white in color and not too sweet, but sweet enough! Perfect for a wedding cake.

Buttercream Icing
The very best Buttercream Frosting. I use this a lot. It uses real butter and the taste is amazing!

Wilton Buttercream Icing
A leading recipe in cake decorating frosting. This recipe turns out bright white and is similar to the basic decorator icing above but in a smaller batch.

Rich Chocolate Icing
This chocolate frosting is for the chocolate lover in all of us. Unlike chocolate buttercream, this icing has a wonderful, rich chocolate flavor. Try it once and you will be hooked!

Chocolate Frosting
Several of our best chocolate frosting recipes that is sure to make your cake superb. One recipe included is a chocolate cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Icing
Wonderful, rich and creamy Cream Cheese Frosting. My personal favorite and you can decorate with it too!

Peanut Butter Frosting Recipe
A perfect combination for chocolate cake. Two recipes including a buttercream frosting that works well for decorating.
