I made this cake for a family member who just turned 30 years old. It took me a week to bake 6 tiers. 2 yellow, 2 Red velvet and 2 coconut. I covered the yellow cake and the coconut cake with red satin fondant.
I covered the Red velvet with a light golden fondant and them I painted the leopard spots with gel eatable colors, black and dark brown. I staked the cakes using tea bubble straws and a wooden dowel thru all three cakes in the middle.
I made the ribbon and bow with fondant and a little bit of tylose powder to make it a little bit stronger. I embossed them with a design to make it resemble fabric.
Placed on cake with sugar glue. I made the number 30 in gumpaste 1 week ahead of time to make sure it would be dry. Sprinkled some red luster dust.
Placed the feathers in back and sprinkled some red luster dust over them. The birthday gal loved the cake. That made me very happy, since it was a lot of work.
