Basic Decorator Icing Recipe
This decorator icing is pure white in color. It reminds me of your
typical wedding cake icing. I have to admit that it is not my favorite
personally, I prefer the
buttercream
icing. By the same token, I do
have customers that would not have any other kind of icing except this
one.

Basic White Icing Recipe
- 2 cups solid shortening (crisco)
- 1/2 cup milk (may need an additional 2-3 Tbsp)
- 2 lbs powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla
- 1/4 tsp almond flavor
- 1/8 tsp lemon flavor
- 1/2 tsp butter flavor
Directions:
- Cream shortening and milk with flavors. Slowly add powdered
sugar, beating at a medium speed until well blended.
- If your icing is too thin, simply add some more powdered sugar
until the desired consistency is reached. Sometimes, the icing may be
too thick. If this happens, add milk 1 Tbsp at a time until the icing
is a good spreading consistency.
