Some great suggestions that you can use for your construction cake design include:

Construction Cake Ideas for Props
Another way that you can
create a great cake that the kids will love is to use props to jazz
your cake up. Why not use one of their toys to hold pieces of birthday
cake? You can take a new clean toy dump truck and fill the skip part
with pieces of chocolate cake cut to size. This will look like a dirt
cake in the back of the truck and kids will really love to be able to
scoop their portion right out of the back of the toy.
If you cannot find a suitable toy to hold your cake, then consider
using a clean plastic bucket to hold the pieces. You could put jelly
worms on top to make it look like a pile of dirt in a bucket.
