Chocolate Cake Recipe


This rich, double chocolate cake is simply divine. It will sweep you off your feet and into your own little chocolate dream world. Perfect with a light whipped icing.

For a real chocolate lovers cake, try it with the rich chocolate icing.

Chocolate Overload Cake

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Grease 3 9" cake pans with pan grease.

  • Pour cocoa into a medium sized bowl and add water, whisking until smooth.

  • Set aside to cool.

  • In a separate bowl; combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.

  • Beat in eggs one a time. Add vanilla.

  • Add the flour mixture and cocoa mixture alternately, and mix well.

  • Add batter to pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
