Cat Birthday Cake Ideas
Cat birthday cake ideas can range from simply using a cat shaped cake
pan to building the cake from several other cakes cut into shapes and
glued together with icing. Inspiration can come from looking at photos
of other cat cakes and visualizing how to create the various parts of
the cat’s anatomy.

Cat-Shaped Cake Pans
One dimensional cat cakes are the easiest to design. If you bake the
cake in a cat shaped cake pan, all you will need to do is focus on
decorating it.
Creative Multi-Cake Pans Cat
For a slightly more complicated one-dimensional cake,
use two sizes of round cake pans, one slightly smaller than the other.
The actual sizes will depend on how large the cake needs to be to
feed all the guests.
Bake two cakes in the larger pan and one cake in the smaller. Use one
of large cakes for the body and the smaller cake will serve as the
cat’s head. Position them on the serving platter, one on top
of the other, to form the cat. From the second large cake cut a
crescent shape about three inches wide at the middle of the crescent to
form the tail. Next, cut triangular pieces for the ears and add the
tail and ears to the body of the cat using frosting to adhere them in
place. Freezing the cakes before carving and shaping them will make it
easier to avoid crumbling edges.
Decorating
Other cat birthday cake ideas include decorating ideas. The color of
frosting you will use depends on what kind of cat you desire to make.
For example, to make your cake look like a tabby cat, use butterscotch
frosting with streaks of white. Orange, brown and buttercream are other
popular icing colors for cat-inspired cakes. Once you have used
frosting to secure and attach the edges of the cat components, frost
the rest of the cat to hide the seams. Separate the head and body with
a collar made from licorice or fruit leather. Use white or pale pink
frosting to accent the insides of the ears.

Making a Cat Face
Cat birthday cake ideas include ideas for making a face on the cake
employing different candies and confections. Make the eyes from black
candy-coated chocolates or fruit pastilles. A heart-shaped candy is
perfect for the nose, and use pink taffy or fruit leather for the
tongue. Make whiskers from licorice sticks or you can draw them on
using black writing frosting. Form the facial features from fondant of
different colors and then place them on the cake.
Themes
Other cat birthday cake ideas may take on a thematic note but that
doesn’t necessarily mean that they are complicated. If the
birthday falls near Valentine’s Day, place cat cake toppers
on a traditional cake with a heart cake topper between and write a cute
phrase on the cake, for example, “Have a Purrfect
Birthday”.
A cat sprawled on a ball of frosting made to look like yarn sitting
atop the cake would lend a cute visual aspect. If you are somewhat
artistic, create a cat face covering the top of a round cake with a
pastry bag and a few different-sized tips.

If you have a cat who thinks the living room belongs to him, decorate
the top of a sheet cake to resemble a living room with tiny furniture
and cat miniature, which you can find at a hobby store.
Another idea children will love is to surround the large cat cake with
additional cupcakes decorated to look like baby kittens.
Cat birthday cake ideas are great for the cat lover, child or for pet
owners to celebrate the birth of their favorite family feline.
Don’t be afraid to try your hand at cake design; and cover
your mistakes with icing.
