Remember, when making a cake from scratch it is important to follow the directions as they are listed.

I recommend always using real butter in homemade cakes. You will be able to tell a difference in the taste and texture.

Follow your recipe exactly, test for doneness with a cake tester or toothpick and allow to cool for 30 minutes-one hour before taking out of the pan and cooling on a rack for several hours or overnight.
