Cakes with Edible Images
Edible images can really make your Batman cake come to life. Edible
batman images can be purchased online and show you how you assemble,
bake and frost your cake as normal, using the colors of your choice.
Take note however that lighter colors often work best for backing
edible images because it helps them to stand out.

Once you have frosted your cake, allow to set in the refrigerator for
an hour before decorating. Apply your edible image as directed on the
package. On a typical sheet or half-sheet cake, center the image to
leave lots of extra space around the image for you to add your own
decorating flare.
Use a piping bag and a design tip to add swirls, words and texture to
your cake. You can also put on some fun candy accents.
Batman Cake Pans
For a more detailed confection, a special Batman themed cake pan may be
a better choice for you. Some specialty cake pans will be flat with a
design on the front while others will be a complete mold for a 3-D
effect. This type of pan can easily be found online or in your local
craft store.
Once the cake is made, you can frost the entire cake in a light color
and then use piping bags and design tips to decorate using the
fill in star technique
with typical Batman colors. If you have the cake pan or would like to
try creating it without the pan, use the
Wilton cake decorating instructions
located on their website.
Build-a-Scene Cakes
Batman is always on the go, protecting the city and fighting the bad
guys, so why not show this on your cake? Even if you are not the most
experienced cake decorator, you can easily use simple techniques to
create a unique Batman Cake.
First, frost your cake in a solid color that will be an appropriate
backdrop for your scene. Use paintbrushes, cake paint,
edible cake markers,
piping bags and design tips to create a backdrop.
- Do you want your Batman to fly? Decorate the cake as the
night sky and pipe some tall black buildings below him.
- Will your Batman be riding or standing next to his
Batmobile? Try using gray, black and yellow frosting to create roads
and a city for the perfect background.
Once your scene is finished, it’s time to add Batman himself.
The easiest way to do this is to purchase cake figures and add them to
your cake in the appropriate position. You can order these online or
try finding them at your local craft store.
For that extra bit of dazzle consider purchasing a Joker or Catwoman
cake decoration to create an interesting fight scene. If you are a more
experienced decorator and can find a picture of a scene you’d
like to use, try using the
paint
a cake method or
frozen buttercream
transfer to put it on your cake.
So, if your little superhero is asking for a Batman Cake this year,
don’t sweat. A great number of options, styles and decorating
options are available to you so that you can easily create a visually
stunning cake even if you are not the world’s best decorator.
