Traditional Baptism Cakes
Cakes for a Baptism are traditionally white crosses and there is
nothing wrong with sticking to tradition to celebrate this holy day.
If, however, you want to expand on this tradition, you might consider
changing the color of the cross to a light pink or blue, depending upon
the child’s gender.
You might also consider outlining the cross with small flowers or
making a long, “s” shape in flowers going from one
end of the cross to another. Adding a rosary, real or edible, on top of
the cross is another nice sentiment, as is adorning the center of the
cross with a heart, dove, or rays of sunlight.
Other traditional Baptism cake ideas include sheet cakes that give the
appearance of an open Bible. You can cover one of the open, edible
pages with a cross, heart, cup and host, dove, or other religious
symbol while the opposite side has a simple inscription, such as
“God Bless” and the baby’s name. You
might add a border around the book with edible pearls to make the cake
a little fancier as well as some color to break up the design and
inscription from the background.

Boy or Girl Baptism Cakes
If you feel uncomfortable eating a cake that looks like a cross, some
Baptism cake ideas focus more on the baby and less on the religious
sacrament. White tiers topped with a pram are one way to highlight a
cake for a baby, a cake topped with pink or blue baby booties or blocks
is another. An all-white square or rectangular cake with an elegant bow
and ribbon is basic but fancy and the color keeps with the tradition.
A multi-tiered cake lightly colored that almost looks white with
delicate, randomly placed flowers and a rainbow in the center or on top
of the cake is another option for your child’s special day.
Instead of one large rainbow, you may opt to use smaller ones
throughout the cake or you can replace the rainbow with an angel, a
cross, a fairy, or anything else that goes along with your theme or
personal preference.
Blue and white checkers with mounted teddy bears holding blocks or baby
blankets is a sweet cake idea for your little boy while a pink cake
topped with a green bunny and dainty daisies is among one of the more
creative Baptism cake ideas for a girl. A sleeping baby, praying child,
or adorable animals doing the same are nice to place in between tiers
or on top of a cake, as they add character and make the cake
aesthetically pleasing.

Baptism Cookies and Cupcakes
If you prefer not to make a cake, cupcakes and cookies are also
acceptable and you can create them using some of the Baptism cake
ideas. You might also make them to match your Baptism cake and serve
them at the event or wrap them in boxes or cellophane as favors.
Frosted cupcakes and cookies offer more options, as you can decorate
with praying hands, angels, crosses, blessings, or make a few of each.
You might decide to bake the cookies or cupcakes in the shape of a
religious symbol or cute baby item, such as a block or teddy bear.
